Woody’s Automotive is family owned and operated by Pam Southers and Shawn Sarbaum, a mother-son team, with a bloodline of car enthusiasts. With many years of experience from Shawn in the automotive industry and the organization skills from Pam, the two decided to go into business together. They knew they had a goal in mind; to operate a successful business, to make high-quality repairs, and above all satisfied customers. Shawn Sarbaum:

At a very young age, Shawn found his passion in the automotive industry while spending time with his Papa in his shop tinkering on cars. The two would spend hours in the shop discussing parts and how they played out on the vehicle. Growing his curiosity his Papa would answer all his questions while patiently teaching him the basics. From all the skills he had obtained from his grandfather, he knew this was the direction he wanted to continue in. Shawn started working at Woody’s Automotive when he was 17 years old, training to be a mechanic with the previous owner, Bill Baker and his son Scott. After working at Woody’s Automotive for over a decade he decided to go a different direction when his son Jacob was born. While having a really good job with AT&T as a district manager for another decade he felt as though something was missing. Passion. He missed what he loved, after weighing his options he decided to return where it all started, Woody’s Automotive. This time as an owner.

Pam Southers:

While living in St. Joseph, Missouri, Pam was the district manager of 23 years for Ryan’s Steak House in the Kansas City Market. In 2008 when she lost her husband she made the move back to Wichita to be closer to her family. During the move, Pam decided she wanted a career change and she decided to try car sales. During her time in sales, she learned the background of vehicles, terminology, and the importance of routine maintenance. When she was approached with the opportunity to combine her management skills with car knowledge and go into business with Shawn she was excited to jump on board with her son.
